Homegirls and Wine!

Two weekends ago I went to the Wein and Saengerfest in New Braunfels with two of my girlfriends from Jr. High. They are the only two friends that I really keep in touch with from San Marcos and we are trying to keep up a monthly meet up between our scattered cities, jobs and lives. It's always so great to catch up with these girls because we literally have known everybody who has ever entered and exited our lives since we were in 7th grade. We bonded through the Jr. High pep squad and they were bridesmaids in my wedding.
The festival was so much fun and somewhere between the third glass of sweet Pinot Grigio, the pork chop on a stick, the smelling of "chicken fried bacon" (not even kidding!), and rocking out to 80s music with the Spazmatics on stage....we realized we have been friends for 17 years! And since they aren't going anywhere...I feel confident that they will still be my friend after posting the following picture of us from 8th grade. Is it weird that we are standing in the same exact order?

Spring...eh...Summer is here!

Summer is here...well not according to the calendar, but according to my thermometer it is!

During the summer, we can just let loose, and take off a layer or two of clothing....

We can try new foods....

or hug some trees and be one with nature...
We can really stop and take a moment to smell the flowers....

and kick back and relax with our shoes off...

We can enjoy eating outside...

We can be silly and act like a frog...
Or just hang out with some friends....even if they are fish....

Or girls...

Update

So quick update to catch you up on happenings of 2010....

January- Chris and I celebrated our 6 year wedding Anniversary! It doesn't seem at all like we've been married that long! Perhaps because we haven't actually been together for an entire year since 2004. Yes, the Army married life has us on a different calendar all together. But hubby has been good....diamond ear rings and necklace in addition to the monthly floral bouquet! But the best gift of all was a devotion to our marriage that we will be enforcing in 2011.....One Weekend a Month...Two Weeks a Year (I'll explain in 2011).

February- Yay for RR!!! Chris was able to come home for his 2 weeks of Rest and Relaxation that he can take mid-deployment. Perfect timing to celebrate his son's 1st birthday with family and friends. In addition, we were able to see family on a weekend trip to Houston and have a few days of us time on the Riverwalk and actually go see a movie ( a huge deal for both of us). We were also forced to veg on the couch due to several days of rain and freezing temperatures. Infact the only day the sun actually came out on his R&R was on Jude's birthday party!

March-Pity party...missing Chris and single parent sorrow....woe is me. OK, not the whole month. Thank goodness for mom's group, random play dates with Rikki and Miller, and a visit from the May Family!

April-New found independence (for Jude and myself!).....Hooray for North Central Christian Learning Center-MDO! Plus Easter fun with family! Pictures coming soon!

May- Summer is officially here....it is suppose to reach 90 degrees here in SA today! It's the count down to new and exciting things....Chris' return home and a possible job? But the Texas heat will no doubt make this summer feel much longer than it actually is. I love my Texas weather EXCEPT for the summer. Does anyone have a home on Lake Tahoe that I could run away to?

This summer......COMING SOON!

World's Worst Blogger

Hello to any followers and readers that I may still have periodically checking to see if I have posted. Yes, it's been months... in fact a quarter of 2010 has already past since my last blog post. I am obviously not the dedicated writer I hoped to be. Blogging is a fun past time...like reading, shopping, or scrapbooking. Unfortunately, it is something you have to make time for and in some moments of life (like the past few months), I just couldn't handle any extras. Blogging is an extra.
But now I have discovered a wonderful little thing called Mother's Day Out! It was a choice that I had to work up to. It took a year, but finally the craziness of single parenthood out weighed any reservations I had about leaving my first born in someone else's care. I finally got to a point where I felt like I was drowning in a "to-do" list that could never get done because Jude was suddenly mobile. I spent my days chasing him and my nights completely exhausted from chasing him. I could possibly manage cleaning up a dirty high chair and taking a shower...if that.
After the initial first day tears (I more than Jude apparently), I soon realized how much I could get done without him. Even loading and unloading him in a car and stroller can be time consuming! First came the simple and necessary things...like paying bills, applying for jobs, killing ants in the yard, and cleaning out my car. Now, after a few weeks of MDO, I am up for some"me time" in the form of yoga, Greek food, trying on clothes at my leisure in a store (as opposed to speed shopping!) and now back to the blog. Two days a week is perfect for us both in this pre-toddler stage. He too is becoming a little more independent, making friends, and forgetting about me long enough to have some fun on his own. Still a mamma's boy, but I'm OK with that!
